NO NO NO...Missouri is the buckle of the bible belt! James...tell him what is headquartered down in Springfield!!!

Ya know...I could get an apartment in Lockport, New York for $300.

Actually, I think Tulsa's just a bit worse. I think Oral robert's revolving Prayer tower and 3.2% beer trumps MO's claims to being the home of the assemblies of God.

There's more than the Assemblies of God headquarters in Springfield!

Yes, there's me.

I know there's a large pagan/wiccan population down here, but given the biggest open coven is called Green Leaf and devoted to marajuana, I don't get involved;)

*LMAO* Well yeah you too hon!

And Green Leaf Coven....*shaking head*

But I was also referring to the fact several mainstream religions have their headquarters down there. Or at least they did the last time I checked!

I don't remember. But I think we do have several branches of Baptists.

Plus, in an event I might have to take a Sunday off for, Holy Trinity is doing the Latin Mass again the second Sunday of every month. I may not have been raised Catholic or have any real understanding of the belief system, but I do love Latin.

It is a lovely language! Oddly enough I find it peaceful to listen to.

Baptists....MEEEEP! *hiding under my blankies*

I love singing in Latin as well. Very dramatic.

And I will say not all Baptists are that bad, it really depends on how closely they follow one of the founding doctrines of the faith.."The Priesthood of the Believer."

Southern Baptists are the SCAWWIEST!!!!

Yes, yes they are. and the National Org is the one who violates that precept of Baptist faith the most. (did some research a while back. Seems in theory, each individual Baptist is supposed to form his/her own theology based on what they read in the Bible. Then the congregation. anything higher up is supposed to be mainly for coordinating mission work, not make policy statements that violate the autonomy of both the congregation and the individual member. which you can judge for yourself how that's working.)

*snort* Not working at all!

I think Kansas would be worst. "A nice view of the wheat fields out your window."
16th-Feb-2008 07:40 pm (UTC)
*shudder* Driving through Kansas is almost as boring as driving through Illinois! Very good likelihood you'll fall asleep at the wheel.
16th-Feb-2008 08:23 pm (UTC)
Oh yes. The only exception in Illinois is Chicago, which tends to keep people awake. Past that, there is lots of nothing in Illinois.

Whoooole lotta nuthin....other than cornfields.
17th-Feb-2008 06:39 am (UTC)
Well, there's a giant cross in Effingham...:)
17th-Feb-2008 03:57 pm (UTC)
THAT qualifies as a whole lot of nuthin' for me, AND the urge to drive faster!
